Solar Tracker

Description:

Maximum Solar Energy can be produced through Solar Panels if the rays of the sun fall directly on the solar panel i.e. perpendicular to the solar panel. In our conventional installation of solar panels this can be achieved only in the noon time. So there is a daily loss of energy produced in the conventional installation. If we use a Solar tracking system, then it is possible to move the solar panels in the direction of the sun throughout the day. So the solar energy produced will be higher. The increase in energy production can range from 25 to 40 % depending upon type of solar panels used and geography.

RES offers the solution for the above. It is a standalone system with built in astronomical timer. The system captures Latitude, longitude, date and time of the place of installation. According to that data, solar panel will be moved by the motor by a certain angle such that the solar panel is perpendicular to the rays of the sun. The movement Is given to the solar panel structure using a motor and actuator mechanism.

Working:

Initially the solar panels are kept horizontal. i.e. at zero deg. Using RTC the date of each day is taken as input. Based on the date, the sunrise and sunset time is calculated of the particular place whose latitude and longitude is programmed in the solar tracker system. At sunrise the Solar panels will be moved towards the sun at -45 deg. The difference between Sunrise and Sunset time is calculated and divided by 45 equal intervals. At the end of each interval time the panels will move by 1 deg towards west and at the end of 45 intervals the panels will reach +45 deg facing the sun in the west. After the reaching +45 deg the panels will be again lined up horizontally at 0 deg and throughout the night the panels will remain at 0 deg. Again on the next date this process will repeat automatically. On each solar panel structure an inclinometer sensor is mounted which gives the correct feedback of solar panel angle.system
